NEW DISEASE ALERT: MONKEYPOX TAKES OVER BAYELSA STATE… (READ)
If you work in a Nigerian hospitaI, there is a new disease outbreak in Nigeria known as ‘Monkeypox‘ in Bayelsa.
10 people including a medical doctor have been quarantined and Centre for disease control is tracking 49 others who were in contact with the infected persons.
According to the World Health Organisation, monkeypox is a rare disease that occurs primarily in remote parts of Central and West Africa, near tropical rainforests.
According to WHO The “monkeypox virus can cause a fatal illness in humans and, although it is similar to human smallpox which has been eradicated, it is much milder,”
The symptoms of monkeypox are severe headache, fever, back pains, etc., noting that most worrisome of all the signs are rashes bigger than those caused by chicken.
The residents of Yenagoa which is the capital of Bayelsa , yesterday was gripped with fear as a result of the massive outbreak of viral epidemic knwn as Monkeypox.
Samples were sent to WHO in Dakar, Senegal.
The viral disease is seen in monkeys,bush meat, such as rats , squirrels ,and antelopes.
